Benriach is one of just two remaining distilleries in speyside to distill whisky using malted barley from its own floor maltings celebrating a tradition whi. They are the only speyside distillery that still rely entirely on their original floor maltings resulting in a highly characterful whisky so deeply in touch with tradition that both demand and prices are steeply rising. Due to benriach s focus on distillery expressions and the distinct lack of pre 21st century single malt releases independent bottlings are exceedingly rare. The floor maltings were in use again and remained so continuously until 1999.

2013 benriach s floor maltings is reopened. They fell silent in 1999 when the distillery was owned by chivas brothers who had put the benriach maltings to innovative use at times making significant.
